Today was a travel interlude, as I am basically over-nighting in Houston, after an all-day train ride from New Orleans. The ride itself was interesting for the shift in geography, from swamp land surrounding New Orleans to flatlands, more supportive of agriculture as we approached Texas. Tomorrow, there is a relatively short bus ride (2.5 hours) to Austin.
One highlight:
- The comped drink count is now at 6 (and first since NYC). After the barkeep at the Houston Hilton spilled half a bucket of ice in my general direction, he comped me a beer. And, of course, the only answer to him apologising profusely was 'No worries. I've had worse things thrown at me in a bar.'
